Wet's "It's All in Vain"

A song is always particularly special when the lyrics can really resonate with you. For me, that's the case with "It's All in Vain" by the Brooklyn-based, modern alt-R&B group Wet.

Kelly Zutrau's angelically pure, almost muted vocals are addicting to sing along to in this track. The album art here is also captivating, perfectly illustrating the vulnerability in Wet's music. I'm super excited to hear them play at Outside Lands this year.

And in case you're curious, the group explains the lyrics on Genius:

I couldn’t get over the feeling of being in a room with someone and feeling like they’re not even there. That idea of just trying to get something out of them, like ‘Show me your face, I need to see if there’s actually a person in there.’ It’s about needing to feel them and communicate with them. Sometimes being with someone physically can still leave you feeling incredibly lonely.
