With the Song of the Week, I've been able to go in depth with a particular song and describe the story behind that song, artist and/or genre. But I realised that I've wanted to find a way to introduce more new music to you guys faster, and let the music just speak for itself. That's why I've decided to start the Midweek Mixtape.
Mixtape /mix•tape/
noun: a compilation of specifically arranged songs.
I love that mixtapes, unlike a single song, can take on their own personality and form their own narrative. (In a sense, I guess this is like Feel-Good Friday 2.0). Each Midweek Mixtape will revolve around a few overarching themes that I've chosen for that week.
Hearing new music – especially a cohesive set of songs – is one of the things that I enjoy the most, so I'm hoping that this will give you something nice to look forward to each week. Since they'll be posted on either SoundCloud on Spotify, you'll be able to like/follow the playlists directly on those platforms.
Here's Midweek Mixtape, Vol. 1: Yours – an R&B/electronic playlist, featuring some gorgeous vocals and production, about love and the vulnerability of calling someone "yours."
